Where Everybody Knows Your Name
I love my new office!
Ok, so it’s not much of an office. It’s more of a coffee shop…slash antique store…slash used book store. It’s the Bookstop Coffee Shop here in Maryville, and it is 100% awesome.
Since about August I’ve gone about once a week to drink a cup of coffee, write lessons, and get to know people. I have found it very affective. I feel so much more creative there than in my office at church. I get more done there in half an hour than I do all afternoon at the church.
Plus, I’m beginning to get to know people, and their getting to know me. It’s great to be able to walk into a place and be known by name. I love being able to patronize a business and be carry on a conversation with the employees. Some days I go in and get very little actual “work” done because I’m too busy talking about life with one of the baristas.
You know you’re a regular, too, when you throw off someone’s day by coming in at a different time. I usually go in between 2 pm and 4 pm, but today I decided to go first thing in the morning. Around 10 am, one of the workers came in to start his day, and he told me that I had messed up his sense of the day. “I feel like I should be getting ready to get off,” he told me.
It may seem little, but things like that make a big difference to me. I know that I’m being recognized. I’m getting to know people. I may even be building relationships, and hopefully one will eventually lead someone to Jesus.
The people at the Bookstop are amazing. Praise God for Divine appointments!

very cool…I hope to join you there at some point. We keep getting sidetracked. Snow was our last obstacle.
